Health Promotion Internship Application
Job Summary
Under direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Health Promotion Internship is a high-energy position for someone who loves interacting with children, families, and community agencies. Responsible for activities between youth and families, community boards, local residents, police, civic, educational, religious and governmental organizations and neighborhood community groups and manages and coordinates functions whose focus is to grow community support for Concrete Safaris' initiatives. Manage and implement organizational projects related to community interests, and overall relationship-building within the community.
Duties and Responsibilities

Administration and Supervision Assist the Executive Director in community building through social media, events, and in-person meetings and activities:

Conduct after school, summer program, internship, and social event outreach activities, including (but not limited to) school program recruitment, program registrations, general Q&A, open houses, pick-up time, and Saturday volunteer sessions.
Carry out the social media strategy and publish a quarterly e-newsletter on all programs and special event mass mailings for e-list. Work in conjunction with the PR team to share our work.
Help recruit interns and assist with trainings, compliance, scheduling, and concerns.
Assist with the planning 3 seasonal dinner event, including chef selection, locations, tickets, activities, and all other requirements.
Conduct outreach campaign for a Streetscape project within Jefferson Houses.
Recruit, train, coordinate and supervise volunteers and interns.
Meet with local PTA's and Tenant Associations to attract youth/family participation in programs.
Compile and submit detailed reports and evaluations on attendance, academic performance, health effects, and other factors in partnership with an external evaluation team.
Work with City agencies and serve as the liaison to various community boards and task forces.
Attend required trainings and workshops.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities.
Participate in outside groups and committees as assigned.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Create and conduct alumni outreach campaign and involve in events.
Education, Experience and Training Education:
High School Diploma, Enrollment, Or Readiness To Complete with interest in Early Education, Social Work, Political Science, or Sociology required.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to:
Work under stressful situations; stay calm; and have excellent problem solving skills.
Participate in active sports and recreation activities.
Use mathematical reasoning.
Provide administrative and professional leadership and direction for program personnel.
Prepare and administer program budget and reports, and maintain records.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other professionals, subordinate employees, other organizations, volunteers, and the general public.
Demonstrate ability to keep sensitive information in confidence.
Flexibility with regard to work hours, must be available to work some nights and weekends.
Work well under pressure and handle multiple program needs at one time.
Have a passion and commitment to serving the public.
Skills to:
Ability to operate (or learn how to) modern office equipment and current technology and applications, such as Microsoft Office computer applications, Excel, Word. InDesign a plus.
Must speak Spanish.
Demonstrate cultural competence.
Strong written and oral communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Self-starter and collaborative.
Other Requirements Physical Requirements:
Ability to conduct activities involving walking 30% of the time, standing 30% of the time, and sitting 40% of the time.
Please note: special event days may require 8-10 hors on your feet.
Ability to lift and carry burdens weighing up to 50lbs.
Ability to grasp and manipulate office equipment as well as tools, equipment and materials used in the maintenance of recreational facilities.
Ability to use computer for extended periods of time.
